Cookies

This site does not use analytics, advertising or third-party cookies. It only stores three pieces of information in your browser, and only if you choose them: two preferences (the country and light or dark mode) and the guides where you have already answered “Was this guide helpful?”. If you do not choose anything, nothing is stored.

That is why we do not show a cookie banner: according to the Spanish Data Protection Agency's Guide on the use of cookies (AEPD, section 2.1.2 b), preferences chosen by the user do not require consent, nor does remembering something you have just done on the page, such as answering a question (the “user-input” cookies of Opinion 04/2012 of the Article 29 Working Party).

What it is

A first-party cookie from wattlio.com that stores a country code, for example “us”.

When it is stored

Only if you choose a country in the “Show for:” selector of a guide.

Purpose

To show you the information for that country first, such as prices and shops, and to sort guides by country on your next visits. If you come in through the main address, wattlio.com, it also helps choose the language of the site.

Duration

1 year.

What it is

An item in your browser's local storage (localStorage), with the value “light” or “dark”.

When it is stored

Only if you press the light or dark mode button.

Purpose

To remember the mode you chose.

Duration

Until you delete it.

What it is

An item in your browser's local storage (localStorage) with the list of addresses of the guides where you answered “Was this guide helpful?”, for example “/en/guide-name/” (at most, the last 200).

When it is stored

Only if you press “Yes” or “No” at the end of a guide.

Purpose

To not show you the buttons again on that guide. It is not sent anywhere: our server only receives the answer, which is added to a total with nothing that identifies you.

Duration

Until you delete it.

None of the three is used to identify you, track you or build profiles, and they are not shared with anyone.

If you do not choose a country, the site infers it on each visit from the approximate location of your IP address, without storing anything in your browser. We explain this under Privacy.

In your browser settings, delete the cookies and site data for wattlio.com. The site will keep working the same; it will just forget your preferences.

If you follow a link to another site, such as a shop, that site may use its own cookies under its own policy.

If we ever add cookies that need your permission, we will ask before using them and explain them here.
